Mesenchymal stem cells, also known as MSCs, allow the body to regenerate itself after an injury. MSCs are a source of regeneration for bone cells, cartilage cells, and soft tissue. BMAC (Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate) and Adipose Tissue are excellent sources for MSCs. Getting an injection of these cells can potentially cause repair of soft tissue in areas of osteoarthritis, ligament, and in tendon and muscle tears. Because BMAC and Adipose therapy uses a patient’s own tissue, there is no risk of rejection or disease transmission. As with any injection into the body, there is always a risk of an infection but this poses no threat to the patient since it is very rare.

BMAC and Adipose cells can be used to treat a number of conditions such as:

Arm Pain:

Osteoarthritis, strains, and injuries involving: elbow (tennis/golfer’s elbow, UCL), shoulder/rotator cuff, biceps, triceps, wrist, and hand

Hip Pain:Osteoarthritis, strains, and injuries involving: hip, hamstring, quadriceps, gluteus, and pelvis/sports hernia.

Knee Pain: Osteoarthritis, strains, and injuries involving: ankle, Achilles, and calf.

How does the procedure work?

  • BMAC and Adipose cell therapy is an in-office procedure that involves obtaining a small sample of a patient’s blood, bone marrow and/or fat tissue using Mini-TC or Lipogems
  • Three samples are then spun at high speeds in a centrifuge, which separates the stem cells from other blood components. (Adipose cells are minimally manipulated as per FDA regulation)
  • The cell mixture is done with the use of ultrasound guidance to accurately determine the proper location for the injection. The procedure takes approximately one hour.
