When it comes to joint pain in the United States, the numbers are surprisingly large and only getting larger. To illustrate this point, more than 54 million Americans have some form of arthritis, and this number is expected to rise to more than 78 million by 2040.

Whether your joint pain stems from arthritis or an injury, your goal is to get back to pain-free movement, and we can help with one of our many injection therapies.

At Genesis Regenerative Sports and Aesthetic Medicine, our team of musculoskeletal experts understands the widespread impact that joint pain can have on your life. To remedy the pain and restore mobility, we offer a wide range of injection therapies that accomplish everything from blocking the pain to healing your damaged tissue.

Here’s a brief look at some of your options when it comes to joint injections.

Blocking the pain

If your joint pain is hampering your ability to function normally, we offer corticosteroid injections, which tackle inflammation and provide pain relief. These injections contain a steroid, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory, and an anesthetic, which works almost immediately to relieve your pain.

This combination approach can provide joint pain relief for weeks or months, which allows you valuable time to address the underlying cause of the problem for longer-lasting results.

Rebuilding and repairing

While the injection we mention above offers a much-needed reprieve from your joint pain, our goal is to provide you with a sustainable outcome, which we can accomplish through our regenerative medicine. The goal of this exciting field of orthopedic care is to encourage healing and repair of damaged tissue by using the amazing resources already found in your body, such as:

Platelets

The platelets in your blood contain powerful growth factors that they release at the site of damaged tissue. These growth factors call in additional resources to create the ultimate healing environment. With our platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, we create a concentrate of your own platelets and redirect them into the joints that are causing you pain. Once there, these added reinforcements set to work to rebuild and repair your damaged tissue.

Adipose fat injection

Stem cells are the building blocks upon which most cells are formed. These undifferentiated cells are most numerous and powerful during embryonic development, but they can still be found throughout the adult body, such as in your adipose (fat) tissue, where they contain 100-500 times more reparative tissue components. To gather these stem cells, we use the innovative Lipogems® system to collect stem cells from your fat.

After we isolate your stem cells, we re-inject them into your damaged joint where they go to work by transforming into the cells needed for rebuilding.

Bone marrow aspirate injection

Another great source for mesenchymal stem cells is your own bone marrow. To access these stem cells, we gently aspirate your bone marrow. Once we collect these healing resources, we prepare and re-inject them into your damaged tissue.

Cutting loose

If you have nagging tendon injuries, we offer TenJet®, which is a minimally invasive procedure. The needle-like applicator of the Tenjet device features two passages — one for saline, which dislodges damaged tissue, and another to suction out the tissue.

We may also use PRP therapy at the same time to encourage healing and repair in your damaged tendon.

Lubing up

If you suffer from knee osteoarthritis, we offer ORTHOVISC® viscosupplementation injections. These injections contain ultra-pure, high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which helps restore lubrication inside your knees. ORTHOVISC is both biocompatible and resorbable, and your results can last up to six months.

If your joints are causing you pain, relief may be a simple injection or two away. To explore which injection therapy is right for you, contact our office in Westfield, New Jersey, to set up an appointment.
