The orthopedic practice has expanded to its fifth facility in New Jersey and features a team of board-certified doctors that provides conservative, non-surgical, and regenerative treatments to heal sports injuries, relieve pain, and also traditional orthopedic surgery for failed conservative management.
“Our goal is to spread excellent orthopedic care throughout the community and maintain the quality of services that we offer to our patients,” said Dr. Matthew Griffin, a board-certified internal medicine physician and co-owner of Genesis Orthopaedic and Spine, specializing in concussion medicine, sports medicine, non-surgical orthopedic injuries, and regenerative treatments. He added when speaking about their recent practice expansion “We wanted to do it slowly and the right way and look forward to serving the community.”
The team at Genesis Orthopaedic and Spine offers state-of-the-art equipment and treatments, such as regenerative medicine procedures like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, adipose injections using Mini-TC and Lipogems, including bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), and Tenjet, and utilizing traditional therapies such as cortisone injections and Orthovisc.
“We treat everything from head to toe from concussions to foot injuries,” explained Dr. Vinay Chopra, who is a board-certified sports medicine physician and co-owner of Genesis Orthopaedic and Spine. “We offer a lot of modern treatments such as regenerative medicine, which is very important. We believe that surgery is not the first answer to most of these injuries and a lot of what we do non-surgically or minimally invasive. However, we also do offer traditional orthopedic surgery for patients who require it”
Dr. Vinay Chopra also has close ties to the Morristown community, completing his fellowship training in sports medicine at Morristown Medical Center affiliated with the New York Jets.
The importance of diagnosing and treating concussions has taken the center stage in the sports community, especially in recent years.
“There have been tremendous improvements in treatments over the last few years,” added Dr. Chopra. “Dr. Griffin and I went to a head injury conference in New York last year and universities are developing different biomarkers on identifying and treating concussions.”
Dr. Griffin added that diagnosing and treating concussions is a more complex and involved process today than it was decades ago and having the right therapy plan in place is key to recovery. While having the right tools and treatment is important, turnaround time in seeing a patient is just as significant. And that’s what helps Genesis Orthopaedic and Spine stand out from other sports medicine practices.
“Any time you have a concussion patient it might be a week or two before they actually see a doctor, but here we make sure they are seen within 48 hours and often times less than 24 hours,” said Fred Kleinbardt, COO and practice administrator of Genesis Orthopaedic and Spine.
